I've just completed the Challenge today. It is not a waste of money, it is an amazing experience! We've helped charities and the community by doing fundraisers and helping the local community. We helped conserve Heath in Sutton Park by clearing Birch trees.

That would be the typical government move, choosing money over the people - And, while money IS an important aspect of life, and must be considered, cutting back on things like The Challenge, which helps shape our minds and attitudes before we're let free to roam and make our own decisions, is where "Short term gain, long term loss" makes the most sense.

Although I was quite certain of my career path and life goals pre-Challenge, I do know a fair few people that weren't. Over the course of the first few weeks, however, it was apparent to everyone that everyone was growing in confidence, trusting in others, and, more importantly for important decisions, in themselves and their own abilities, leading to more conscious and focused life paths. To allow schemes like this to drop on the list of priorities would, I believe, give rise to new lows of wasted potential, and, therefore, wasted potential economy-builders. Short term gain, long term loss.

And, really, that's just scratching the surface of what The Challenge has done, is still doing, for all of us Challengers.

I'd also like to add that The Challenge has given me an amazing 3 months, there's only graduation to go, and I can't wait to see all those faces I can't believe I'd never known before, and have grown so close to. Thank you to all the mentors and team leaders and organisers and the board of trustees and basically everybody that played a part in making everything as great as it was. I hope you all have another great year next year, and the year after that, and so on :)

That's a brilliant idea! I can't access the postitwars website at the moment but will do when I get home. I can't believe how quickly and the distances to which it has spread.

Right!

So Ive been getting some more information and working with the JOB CENTRE!! Which has been a real eye-opener...
Theyre happy for me to meet with them and work alongside them... focusing on lone parents as well as other sectors. Ill be trying to set up workshops with some of their jobseekers as well as people on income support etc. It will be great to get involved with the job centre and get some inside knowledge about whats available and what isnt more to the point! Ill keep you posted :)

Yes! Get them involved, they say they want independance and to make their own choices. Well why not get them on board. doing something worthwhile.
I do agree with the parenting strategy, my mom wouldve wiped the floor with me if I did that. LAZY PARENTS! CANT BE BOTHERED TO BE BOTHERED. anything for a quiet life. Sort it out people!
